FRIENDS OF THE HOMER LIBRARY Our mission is to provide support for the Homer Public Library programs and services, to raise funds that enrich the library experience, and to promote the use and enjoyment of the library. |
After a facelift, BOB rolled out to the public during the spring of 2017. Since then, BOB has visited local schools from Chapman in Anchor Point to Voznesenka during the spring and fall. The bookmobile promotes library use and raises awareness of library services while allowing students to climb on board and select a book to keep and read. During the summer months, community members exchange or borrow books during BOB’s regular stops at many local venues including Hornaday Park, Homer High School, Sprout, Pier 1 Theater, and the Farmer’s Market.
In 2018, FHL created a book box lending program to schools with limited access to the library during the winter months when BOB is sleeping. Currently, staff at Voznesenka and Razdolna schools receive sets of quality used books from BOB along with high interest new books, which they loan out to students for a semester.
